The Florida Hikes! Forum

March 9th, 2007 Sandra Friend

I’ve been searching for more than a year for some decent bulletin board / forum software that won’t be hacked every few days, which is what shut down the Florida Trail forum … too difficult to moderate and maintain. However, I’ve discovered an open source bulletin board that integrates with my content management system, so I’m giving it a shot. You can post topics and respond to them. Try it out and let me know what you think!

Another quick overhaul

I’ve discovered that using a combination of my GPS readings for trailheads, Google Earth, and Google Maps, I can provide you with both dynamic links to Google for zoom-in and directions as well as UTM codes to plug into your GPS to find trailheads. Woo-hoo! So I’m working my way back through the existing trail articles on the website to plug in that information. Keep an eye on it and let me know what you think!

Happy Blog-o-versary

I’ve just finished switching the entire site over from Drupal into Wordpress and phpwebsite and hope to spend more time expanding on content. I can’t believe it’s been a year since I launched! Here’s to a much more productive year in easier to use tools, with many more hikes to share.

Crashed

Had a problem with an upgrade of Drupal, and like me, the system crashed. I’d rather be hiking…hope you are!

Starting anew

November 3rd, 2006 Sandra Friend

As promised (albeit months later), I am re-implementing the Florida Hikes website in a content management system. Once I’ve migrated the old blog posts and pages over here, I’ll start generating new content and open up a forum for discussions about Florida hiking. Watch this space!
