While it’s not the right time of year for pine lilies to bloom, Orange County’s Pine Lily Preserve in Bithlo is a great wildflower walk in any season. Right now, you’ll catch carnivorous sundews and bladderworts, as well as lobelia, in the damp spaces south along the Red Trail from the parking area. A pretty morning’s walk, this preserve is notable for another reason this time of year: a place to hike with no hunting allowed amid a sea of public lands that become busy with hunters in the next few weeks.
Pine Lily Preserve is at the south end of CR 13 in Bithlo. Follow the road to where it ends – and mind the dropoff into the parking area, the pavement drops sharply. Bicycles and dogs are not allowed.
