When it came time to write the second edition of 50 Hikes in Central Florida, there was a need to generate new interest in the book by adding new hikes. In all, I exchanged 17 of the original hikes for newer or more interesting trails in the same region.
Back in September, one of my readers, Fredrik Coulter, started on a mission to find out what happened to those missing trails. He’s been visiting and posting new information on these original “50 Hikes” on an almost-weekly basis since then, and I think it’s pretty cool, since I haven’t had time to get back and revisit these myself.
