The 10-foot wide boardwalk forged from recycled-plastic planks winds through the wetlands and oak hammocks east of Interstate 95 on a 1.1-mile route south of the Brevard Zoo. The trail was built on land donated by the Duda family. The trail was paid for with parks bond money approved by voters in a November 2000 referendum. The zoo will maintain it.

For now, the trail ends at a gate. But state transportation money is expected to become available in 2016 to continue the trail farther south, and the goal is to end with a trailhead at the Pineda Causeway.
