Polk County’s newest natural land, is, like Circle B Bar Reserve, along Lake Hancock. But this is a much wilder place, where the landscape wasn’t cleared for cattle ranching. The Marshall Hampton Reserve encompasses 1,173 acres and offers 6 miles in two trails of 2.5 and 3.5 miles each. It’s located near the intersection of SR 540 & Thornhill Rd, south of Auburndale and southeast of the Polk Parkway, but is so new that it isn’t listed on the Polk Environmental Lands website yet. Be an early explorer and visit the trails, which opened just over a week ago, soon!
