A long-time local park and beach access point, Salinas Park provides a picnic grove with small wooden pavilions in a pine forest.
It’s the primary access point for equestrians headed to the beach.
Although the sands here aren’t as lovely as at nearby St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, the beach is busy since access is free and pets are welcome.

Details
From the parking area, wander through the picnic grove to the boardwalk that leads you through the middle of a beautiful coastal scrub out to the beach.

It’s a long, open stretch of sand on the Gulf of Mexico. Waves are minimal except during stormy times, and the depth drops off very gently.
With special permits issued by the county, vehicle access is permitted on the beach itself from other beach access areas, so be cautious of vehicles.
