It’s found throughout Florida, in freshwater marshes and along the rim of saltwater marshes, and is by far one of the showiest grasses in Florida, especially when the huge tufts are ruffled by a breeze – sand cordgrass, or Baker’s cord grass, Spartina bakeri.
I just finished transcribing a hike where a broad meadow of sand cordgrass is one of the visual delights along the trail, and happened across this neat little summary and video from IFAS / University of Florida about this native species.
