When we arrived home yesterday there was a package on our doorstep from Mountain Hardwear.

Receiving packages from outfitters on our doorstep is nothing new. Now that we have added a GEAR section on Florida Hikes!, I suspect we’ll have a lot more surprises. And I’m looking forward to sharing them with you.

This package was special! Something, I ordered, all new for my hiking adventures. Something so new and different that I’ve never, ever tried in my forty years of hiking.

Dark green, two pockets, and a built-in nylon belt. But wait, there’s no instructions! With only three snaps and a plastic buckle it. It wasn’t hard to figure out.

That’s right, I’m now the proud owner of my first hiking kilt!
